"It is not a Christian value to demand legal discrimination against gay couples and to treat them as inferior, second-class citizens - with fewer rights than everyone else."
Amen, brother!

Update from last week's story.
Parents: "Simply put, there's no reason to post these cards."
Hmm... except the thousands of children across Canada who struggle each day with mental health or adjustment issues. Or, you know, the hundreds of children who unfortunately have taken their own lives because they fail to see themselves accepted or reflected in the public school system. But you know, there's no reason at all for proactively reaching out to a child in need.
Interesting to see SUN MEDIA eliminate the word "Christian" from their updated stories.
I am so sick of reading stories about sanctimonious Christians who fail to lead their lives on the loving and accepting principles they are suppose to be promoting.

I had a great conversation with a good friend of mine the other week about how uncomfortable I have become with the arrogance and bigoted nature of some atheists.
I told him that at times, those who despise and shun religion at every corner, actually speak in the same divisive platitudes as some of the most extremist religious folks I have read or heard. I went on to say that I believe atheism, as its worst, is just as dangerous and becoming more so with each passing day.
All of this was in the context of a book I am currently reading, When Atheism Becomes Religion by Chris Hedges.
He told me I was mostly wrong. I considered his comments, agreed that I may have been neglecting a few major points, and we kept drinking beer.

There is nothing more dangerous than a poor man or woman with nothing to lose.
74.8 million youths aged 15-24 were unemployed in 2011. Disaster.

The politics of Barbie in Iran.
Police believed to be confiscating Barbie dolls from toy shops in Tehran in its continued crackdown against “manifestations of Western culture.”

Managed change. Not sharp turns.

Releasing toxic information into the general psyche byway of a report, is a great way of conditioning the populace for what is to come. I hope we're paying attention.
Perhaps this is a good time to pass this (rubbish) report to the anti-Romney, anti-biligual, hopelessly insular GOP folks down south? Thank you, Fraser Institute, for once again enlightening us Canadians with another one of your money-pinching, misanthropic reports.

Pretty funny and sad - and probably organized by a bunch of left wing pinkos... you know, the folks who care about defending human rights, the environment, social justice, economic equality, universal healthcare, a women's right to choose... and all those crazy ideas.
In other news, here is what a few angry tweets and facebook status updates will do.

I know this isn't about the economy or jobs, but this sort of thing matters to me - especially when it's in the hands of a political party drenched in religious fervour.
A little premature, or was this fellow right on the mark?

Good, let these folks speak.

Reason numbero uno why I no longer support this archaic institution... Decades of denial and cover up for disgusting priests who fondle little boys, finishes a close second.

Q: What would Jesus do?
A: None of the above.

"Distraction is the only thing that consoles us for our miseries, and yet it is itself the greatest of our miseries."
Read this great little piece on the streetcar this morning, on my smart phone of course, while re-reading and deleting some emails.

I have always maintained that Canada's claim to being a secular country was a bit of a farce. Now, I will actually have something to point to. This is a mistake. Period.

Imagine if politics was a forum where the truth was authentically pursued and rewarded...
The public comments to this article are a sad reflection of the country we've become, or maybe, of the country we've always been.
