When Canada lost its bid to earn a seat on the UN's security council (for the first time in 60 years), many Conservatives shrugged their shoulders and passed it off as unimportant.

Today, Prime Minister Harper travels to China to talk trade.  The world will be watching, considering he is the first Western leader to meet with China after they (along with Russia) recently vetoed a UN resolution to assist the people of Syria.

Just imagine what a meeting with China would be like if Canada were sitting on the security council. Instead, we go armed with maple syrup and our cute little accents.
